Make Disciples, not Church Members
The Great Commission
And He (Jesus) said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. ~Mark 16:15-16
Christians in Iran: "If we evangelize, the government will put us in prison. We will do it anyway."
Christians in India: "If we evangelize, the crowds will beat us to death. We will do it anyway."
Christians in China: "If we evangelize, the government will forcely take our body parts for organ transplants. We will do it anyway."
Christians in America.: "If we evangelize, it will offend unbelievers, Jews, Muslins, the LBGTQ community, and Democrats. We'll just play Church and pretend that we are Disciples.
An interesting quote attributed to Pastor Sam Pascoe, showing a short history of the Church.
“Christianity
started in Jerusalem as a fellowship; it moved to Greece and became a
philosophy; it moved to Italy and became an institution; it spread
around Europe and became a culture; it came to America and became an
enterprise.”
Christians are not "saved" or righteous people telling other people they need to "get saved." We are beggars telling other beggars where to find bread.
Jesus Instructs His Followers
“If you love Me, keep My commandments." ~John 14:15
The Narrow Way
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." ~Matthew 7:12-14
