The Difference Between Then and Now

Albert Bruce Sabin was born in 1906 in Bialystok, Poland.  He died in 1993.

A Jewish doctor and a virologist known for opening a polio vaccine refused the patent money, allowing it to spread to everyone, including the poor.

Between 1959 and 1961, millions of children in eastern countries, Asia and Europe were vaccinated: the polio vaccine stopped the epidemic. Sabin refused to patent his vaccine, waiving commercial exploitation by pharmaceutical industries, so that the low price would guarantee a more extensive spread of the treatment. From the development of his vaccine Sabin did not gain a penny, and continued to live on his salary as a professor. The Sabin Vaccine Institute was founded in 1993 to continue the work of developing and promoting vaccines. To commemorate Sabin's pioneering work, the institute annually awards the Albert B. Sabin Gold Medal in recognition of work in the field of vaccinology or a complementary field.

He said: "Many people insisted on patenting the vaccine, but I didn't want to. It is my gift to all the children of the world."

Medical Career

Sabin trained in internal medicine, pathology, and surgery at Bellevue Hospital in New York City from 1931 to 1933. In 1934, he conducted research at The Lister Institute for Preventive Medicine in England, then joined the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research (now Rockefeller University). During this time, he developed an intense interest in research, especially in the area of infectious diseases.

In 1939, he moved to Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. During World War II, he was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Medical Corps and helped develop a vaccine against Japanese encephalitis. Maintaining his association with Children's Hospital, by 1946, he had also become the head of Pediatric Research at the University of Cincinnati. At Cincinnati's Children's Hospital, Sabin supervised the fellowship of Robert M. Chanock, whom he called his "star scientific son."^[8]

Sabin went on a fact-finding trip to Cuba in 1967 to discuss with Cuban officials the possibility of establishing a collaborative relationship between the United States and Cuba through their respective national academies of sciences, in spite of the fact that the two countries did not have formal diplomatic ties.^[9]

In 1969–72, he lived in Israel, serving as President of Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot. After his return to the United States, he worked (1974–82) as a research professor at the Medical University of South Carolina. He later moved to Washington, D.C. area, where he was a resident scholar at the John E. Fogarty International Center on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland.

Then we had scientists with integrity who refused to get rich off of other people's misery. Now we have scientists producing God knows what for huge profits.

Whale of a Tale

 

The story of Jonah is about a man who thinks his "will" is equal to, or superior to, God's will. Boy, was he wrong! 2 Kings 19:28 and Isaiah 37:29  confirm man's so-called "free will" is directed by God.

 

Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.^" But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. ~Jonah 1:1-3

 

Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. ~ Jonah 1:17

 

For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. ~Matthew 12:40

After Jonah's ordeal, he got his mind right and did as God commanded. How often have we tried to flee from God and needed to get our mind right?

 

Critics of the Bible often point out what they consider to be errors or contradictions in the text. For example, in the book of Jonah the word fish is used. In Matthew the word whale is a poor translation of Hebrew to Greek to Latin Vulgate, and eventually English KJV in 1611. Fish and whales are two different species.

The "error" can be quickly cleared up by learning the correct definition of words. Translators sometimes change the original language to a word or phrase in an effort to give the reader "a clearer understanding".   

The "great fish" the Lord prepared could swallow a man. In addition, the creature either did not have a digestive system or else Jonah was protected from the creature. How was Jonah able to breathe under water in the belly of a fish? Only God and Jonah know for sure and I will take their word for it.

What is the symbolism of Jonah coming to Nineveh in the belly of a "great fish"? Nineveh's name translates roughly to "House of the Fish." The people widely worshiped fish-related deities like Dagon and the culture-god Oannes (depicted as half-man, half-fish) who were believed to have brought civilization from the sea. God used the great fish to not only teach Jonah a valuable lesson but to show the people of Nineveh who is the real God.

Even Bible stories for children perpetuate the myth of a whale instead of the accurate description of a great fish. These mistranslations of Scripture keeps people ignorant of the truth and the accuracy of God's word.

 

Churchianity teaches that man has "free will" which is obviously not true... ask Jonah. Man has free choice, but not free will. You can run from God, but you can't hide.

 

There is a moral to this story. Jonah hated the people of Nineveh and wanted them to be punished. Humans are often upset at God's forgiveness, of kindness towards, and grace given to those they think deserve punishment for their sins. 

  

But humans are rarely upset at the idea that God will eternally roast folks in an "ever-burning hell." These reactions are part of the flesh nature, which go away as the mind is renewed and the heart purified and Divine nature takes root.

Churchanity teaches that God is mean and cruel and will punish the wicked forever. The Bible teaches just the opposite. God does not seek retribution, He seeks reconciliation. For it is written: “As I live, says the Lord, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God.”  ~ Romans 14:11 

 

God never forces people to trust and obey Him, but He can make us wish we had. God brings about circumstances for our good. Because humans are so hardheaded, God must use extreme measures sometimes to get our attention. 

 

The conversion of Saul of Tarsus is an example of God's love and forgiveness. God turned an enemy into a friend. ~ Acts 9     

 

Just as God arranged for Jonah and Paul to repent, He will make it happen for others. You can ignore, you can resist, you can flee, but you cannot escape the love God. Churchianity is always trying to convert people from one religion to another. Christian conversion is to God, not changing from a non-Christian religion or joining another Church. Churchianity has done horrible things in the name of God.

 

What does it mean to be in the world, but not of the world? 

 

God left us a prefect example when He created whales. These magnificent creatures are mammals and should be on the land, yet they spend their entire life in the ocean. They have no gills to breathe underwater so they must come to the surface to take a breath of fresh air and get some sunlight. They are in the sea, but not of the sea.

God's children are in the world, but not of the world. We are in the sea of humanity and must breathe air to live. Many people choose to take a quick breathe and dive back down into the darkness of depression and self-pity ignoring the benefits of acquiring the fruit of the spirit.

Render To Caesar

Protect Your Income

Let's take a look at Matthew 22:20-22

And He (Jesus) said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this (coin)?”

They said to Him, “Caesar’s.”

And He (Jesus) said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” When they had heard these words, they marveled, and left Him and went their way.

Your income does not belong to Caesar (the IRS). Is there an IRS inscription on U.S. money? Who labored for that money? Can another person demand any part of your income? What gives the IRS the right to take income from you?

Some will say Congress gives the IRS the "right". By what authority does Congress enact legal theft? When someone takes something that does not belong to them, it's theft... pure and simple.

The United States was a prosperous nation prior to 1916 without an income tax. There are lawful ways to fund government. Income tax is not one of them. Congress was elected by We The People to represent the interest of We The People, not to rob us. 99.9% of the American people do not want an income tax. Citizens have a Right, yea a duty to protect their income from thieves. 

Thou shall not steal is one of God's Commandments. Don't encourage stealing or participate in it.

Protect your income. Don't allow thieves to "break in and steal" ~ Matthew 6:19-21

 

Promises

 

 

America is the land of broken promises. The Democrats have never kept a single promise they made to uphold and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

From 1778 to 1871, the United States government entered into more than 500 treaties with the Native American tribes; all of these treaties have since been violated in some way or outright broken by the US government. Native Americans and First Nations peoples are still fighting for their treaty rights in federal courts. The Court system is no protector of Rights, or Justice.

When Americans keep re-electing liars and thieves, what can you expect? As it is written: "But I (YHWH) will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, Who  say to you; 'Lie down, that we may walk over you.’ And you have laid your body like the ground, And as the street, for those who walk over.” ~ Isaiah 51:23

America started down the road of broken promises when We The People "laid down" and allowed the murder of our babies to be legalized. We The People "laid down" and allowed pseudoscience to put our country on lock down, destroy small businesses, and jeopardize our health. We The People "laid down" and allowed our cities to be looted, burned, and plundered by domestic terrorists groups. We The People "laid down" when the LGBQTAI+ community demands gender identity, and drag queen story hour be a part of the school system.

What will become of America if We The People do not repent of our wicked ways?

 

Thus says the Lord (YHWH): “Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ Also, I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen.’

 

All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way. The Lord will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you set your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the wickedness of your doings in which you have forsaken Yahweh. 

 

Yahweh God has never broken a single promise to us. And if it seems evil to you to serve Yahweh, choose for yourself this day whom you will serve, whether the gods of Washington, D.C. or the God who keeps His promises.

But as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh. 

 

In 2016 We the People elected a reformer, a man who had never held public office. We the People were sick and tired of career politicians. This man tried his best to set America on the right course. He was defeated in the 2020 election and once again the criminals, gangsters, thieves, murderers, and God-haters installed a senile old man as our puppet president. We the People asked, "Where is America headed and why is she carrying a hand basket?"

When Trump ran again in 2024, We the People knew exactly what that meant. It meant Trump was knowingly, and willingly, putting himself in the line of fire. And sure enough there have been two attempts on his life so far. I pray for his safety, and for the criminals who plot against America.

If God told a prophet to marry a prostitute, 

If God crowned an adulterer as king, 

If God used a murderer to deliver the Israelites from bondage, 

Then who are WE to decide

who’s disqualified,

who’s too broken,

who’s too messy,

or who’s unworthy of God’s purpose?

God doesn’t recruit from perfection, He redeems from surrender. The Kingdom of God isn’t intimidated by someone’s past. It’s attracted to a heart that says Lord I repent, and I will try my best to do better, but I need your help.

 

Stop gatekeeping God's grace and mercy.

Stop playing Holy Jury. God will judge.

Stop confusing God’s process with your preference. If God only used “clean” people none of us would be chosen.

Shadrach Meshach Lockridge (March 7, 1913 – April 4, 2000) was the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, a prominent African-American congregation in San Diego, California, from 1953 to 1993. He was known for his preaching across the United States and around the world.

Dr. Lockridge was born in Robertson County, Texas, the oldest of eight children and the son of a Baptist minister. A graduate of Bishop College in Marshall, Texas, he worked for two years as a high school English teacher. 

 

In 1940 he felt led to preach. He held doctorates and numerous honorary degrees, and was often sought as a public speaker, even after he retired in 1993. He served as guest lecturer at numerous schools and universities and on the faculty of several others, including the Billy Graham School of Evangelism.
