About S. M. Lockridge

 

Shadrach Meshach Lockridge (March 7, 1913 – April 4, 2000) was the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, a prominent African-American congregation in San Diego, California, from 1953 to 1993. He was known for his preaching across the United States and around the world.

Dr. Lockridge was born in Robertson County, Texas, the oldest of eight children and the son of a Baptist minister. A graduate of Bishop College in Marshall, Texas, he worked for two years as a high school English teacher. 

 

1940 in Dallas, he felt led to preach. He held doctorates and numerous honorary degrees, and was often sought as a public speaker, even after he retired in 1993. He served as guest lecturer at numerous schools and universities and on the faculty of several others, including the Billy Graham School of Evangelism.

Mama Bear Patriot

Patriots, by definition, LOVE America and her interests with devotion. When you LOVE your country, you tend to see things differently than a citizen who lives here, but has no expressed love for America. For the sake of discussion, think about a Patriot like the Mama Grizzly Bear above leading her cubs through the Grand Tetons. What’s Mama Grizzly Bear’s primary focus? Her innate LOVE manifests in fiercely protecting, nurturing and training her cubs. Mama Bear is naturally and instinctively attuned to anything that could cause her cubs harm. Mama Bear LOVES her cubs knowing, in a relatively short time, they will be out of the den and on their own. Mama Grizzly knows her cubs need enough situational awareness to survive on their own… and that drives her passion to train them in the ways of the wilderness. While Mama Bear has them under her protection, she uses her expertise to teach the cubs how to play with their siblings, find sustenance, avoid predators and navigate the wilderness. Nothing distracts Mama Grizzly Bear from her top job, regardless of external environmental conditions. Of course, the day eventually comes when Mama Grizzly Bear watches the cubs leave the den. Then she is able to attend to other matters. Can you imagine a Mama Grizzly Bear not caring for her cubs? The idea of her giving birth, tossing them out of the den and letting the cubs fend for themselves is preposterous. Why? Because a loving Mama Grizzly Bear would never do that… That’s the difference between American Patriots and most citizens. Patriots will NEVER give up and let the next generation figure it out on their own. Citizens who don't love America can't raise Patriot cubs. Patriots are fiercely protective of our American den and want to make it safer and more productive for those who come after us (whether they are our biological kids or not). Patriots don’t live in La La land. We know America is not perfect… only God is perfect. Patriots see numerous threats whose mission is to target our way of life and convince us that LOVING America is a waste of time and fraught with danger. Mama Grizzly stays undercover when she feels threatened. Similarly, there are times when Patriots have to be STEALTHY.

A Patriot who chooses to LOVE America, also embraces the responsibility to stay in the fight to make our nation a better place to live, whether we caused the problem or not. It’s much easier to be a citizen who chooses not to love America. In fact, it’s a gutless choice. The non-Patriot citizen often abdicates responsibility for making America a better place to live... but why? The reality is that for several decades, we have not been teaching our young people WHY America is worth loving. Personally, my FED-UP meter is pegged with non-stop whining and complaining from those who want someone else to “fix” America's problems. I readily admit though, sometimes that whiner is ME. No doubt, there are plenty of bad actors that need an attitude adjustment, but that’s a discussion for another day. Today, I have to look at the guy in the mirror and start anew. Every single American Patriot, from the time we are old enough to stand up and hold a tiny flag at an Independence Day parade until our last breath, can do something to express LOVE for our nation. Perhaps I can start with a simple prayer to Almighty God for one more day to serve my fellow Americans (whether I like them or not)! Like Mama Grizzly, Patriots set the example for non-Patriot citizens to follow... whether they follow or not, is their choice. We must give these citizens a reason to LOVE America… starting with how we treat each other… whether we agree with them or not. Patriots focus on solving the enormous challenges facing our country. Patriots have the same DNA for America that Mama Grizzlies have for their cubs. It's the powerful DNA strand of LOVE. Being a Patriot is not for the faint of heart… especially in these times. But what does that have to do with anything? 1.4M Americans have given their lives so we can live here today. What about tomorrow? That's on us. Imagine a Patriot with a Mama Grizzly Bear attitude in every hometown in America... that will be a good start! Standing with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, Steve

Divorce Agreement

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists, and Obama/Biden/Harris/Pelosi supporters, et al:

We have stuck together since the late 1950s for the sake of the kids, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has clearly run its course.

Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right for us all, so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

 

Here is our separation agreement:

Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by land mass, each taking the portions according to voting patterns. It should not be difficult we'll take the red States and you can have the blue States. Citizens who don't like red States will have 90 days to move somewhere they'll be happy.

 

After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets, since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.

—We don't like redistributive taxes, so you can keep them.

--You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU.

--Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA, and the military.

--We'll take the nasty, smelly oil industry and the coal mines, and you can go with wind, solar, and bio-diesel.

--You can keep Bill Gates, George Soros, Oprah, Whoopi, Bill Maher, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell. You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all seven of them.

--We'll keep capitalism, greedy corporations, natural wellness companies, Dollar General,  Wal-Mart, and Wall Street.

--You can have your beloved lifelong welfare dwellers, food stamps, homeless, homeboys, hippies, druggies, and illegal aliens.

--We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEOs, and rednecks.

--We'll keep Bill O’Reilly and Bibles and give you CNN, MSNBC and Hollywood.

--You can make nice with Iran and North Korea and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us.

--You can have the peaceniks, ANTIFA, Black Lives Matter, and war protesters.

--When our allies, or our way of life, are under assault we'll help provide them security.

--We'll keep our Christian values.

--You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, political correctness, and Shirley McLaine. You can also have the UN, but we will no longer be paying the bill.

--We'll keep the SUVs, pickup trucks, and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Volt and Leaf you can find.

--You can give everyone health care if you can find any practicing doctors. We'll keep our freedom of choice. You take mandates and forced medical treatment.

--We'll keep "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "The National Anthem."

--I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute "Imagine," "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing," "Kum Baya," or "We Are the World."

--We'll practice trickle-down economics and you can continue to give trickle-up poverty your best shot.

--Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name, and our flag. You can keep cancel culture.

--Now that Roe v. Wade has been returned to the States to decide if their tax payers are willing to pay for your abortion you can move to the State of your choice.

Would you agree to this? If so, we can petition Congress to draw up the separation agreement. Please pass it along to other like-minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, you can always move to another country. In the spirit of friendly parting our divorce will make us both happy.

The Ultimate Test of Faith

There comes a time in the life of every believer when God puts us to the ultimate test of faith. It’s the same test Israel faced on the wilderness side of the Jordan. What is this test?

It is to look at all the dangers ahead—the giant issues facing us, the high walls of affliction, the principalities and powers that seek to destroy us—and to cast ourselves totally on God’s promises. The test is to commit ourselves to a lifetime of trust and confidence in his Word. It’s a commitment to believe that God is bigger than all our problems and enemies.

Our heavenly Father isn’t looking for a faith that deals with one problem at a time. He’s looking for a lifetime faith, a lifelong commitment to believe him for the impossible. This kind of faith brings a calm and rest to our soul, no matter what our situation. And we have this calm because we’ve settled once and for all, “My God is bigger. He is able to bring me out of any and all afflictions.”

Our Lord is loving and longsuffering, but he won’t allow his people to dwell in unbelief. You may have been tested time after time and now the time has come for you to make a decision. God wants faith that endures the ultimate test, a faith that won’t allow anything to shake you from trust and confidence in his faithfulness.

As Israel faced Jericho, the people were told not to say a word, but simply to march. They were focused on the one thing God asked of them: to obey his Word and go forward.

That is faith. It means setting your heart to obey all that is written in God’s Word, without questioning it or taking it lightly. And we know that if our hearts are determined to obey, God will make sure his Word to us is clear, without confusion. Moreover, if he commands us to do something, he’ll supply us with the power and strength to obey: “Let the weak say, I am strong” (Joel 3:10). “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might” (Ephesians 6:10).

The name Jericho refers to a place of seclusion or concealment. President Trump was not able to completely drain the swamp, but he lowered the water enough to reveal the bottom feeders. Maybe it's time for a silent march around Congress and the State Capitols.
