Trust and Obey

An Exposition of  “When we walk with the Lord.”

By Dewey Painter Sr.

When we walk with the Lord,

In the light of His Word,

What a glory He sheds on our way!

Let us do His good will;

He abides with us still,

And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey,

For there's no other way,

To be happy in Jesus,

But to trust and obey.

Songs of the faith should inspire us, not just entertain us.  Many of the greatest songs of the faith carry a message that goes beyond just the words of the song.  Can a song be looked at in an expository way?  If it can then great truths can be found in each portion of the song.  For example, one of my most loved songs is “Trust and Obey.”  The prevailing truth of I Kings 17:1-16, Elijah only did two things. 1] He trusted God, not knowing all that God was planning or fear of his safety, and he trusted God to be his shield and portion.  2] He obeyed God in all things, he went to the King, he went to the brook,  and he went to the city of the widow, all that God told him to do, he did, because he trusted and obeyed the Lord.

Rather than put forward with my words, let the Word of God give us an expository of the song.

When we walk with the Lord:

Deuteronomy 5:33 “Ye shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.

Joshua 22:5  But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

1 Kings 6:12 Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:
1 Kings 8:61
Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.
Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Ephesians 4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
Ephesians 5:8
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

Colossians 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

2 John 1:6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

In the Light of His Word:

Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Psalm 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

II Corinthians 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

II Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

I  John 2:8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.

What a glory He sheds on our way:

Ignorance

IGNORANCE IS BLISS, text on orange grungy stamp sign

Many people in Churchianity seem to think the goal of the Christian life is for Jesus to make us Healthy, Wealthy, and Happy. But if that is true, HE forgot to tell the Apostles, and millions of Christian martyrs.

Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. ~ Matthew 24:9

Most Christians do not believe this scripture. They have been taught they will be "raptured" to escape this evil.

Jesus said: "I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one." ~ John 17:15

Another scripture that confirms no escape: For when they (false teachers) say,  “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. (no rapture) ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:3

The doctrine of a rapture or "caught up" to escape tribulation is False.

Truth: Verse 16 of 1 Thessalonians clearly states this event is the first resurrection of the dead in Christ and those still living (the barley harvest) when Christ returns, not an escape. Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection... Revelation 20:5-6. The second resurrection is the "wheat harvest" when Jesus separates the wheat from the chaff.

Remember Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego? God did not "rapture" them out of the fire. He sent Jesus to protect them from the fire. What makes this generation of Christians think they deserve to escape tribulation when Jesus, the disciples, and millions of Christian martyrs were not "raptured"? ~ 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

Truth: Matthew 24:12-14 (KJV)
And because iniquity (lawlessness) shall abound, the love (of the truth) of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure (truth) unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

As it is written: For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. ~Matthew 24:24

There's a very simple test the elect can use to make sure they are not deceived. When anyone claims to be Christ, stick a pin in your arm if it hurts the person is false. For when Christ himself returns we shall all be changed instantly into our glorified spirit bodies (spirits do not experience pain).

Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep (die), but we shall all be changed (not raptured)—  in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. ~1 Corinthians 15:51-53

"And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.” ~ Revelation 5:10  What! On earth? Churchanity tells us we are going to heaven, live in a mansion, play harp music day and night, and throw chicken bones at the Devil.

The followers of Satan believe the world is overpopulated with Christians and the time has come, "that whosoever (or whatever) kills you will think they offer their gods a service."  Their gods are "science and technology." ~ John 16:2

The government elites are only interested in two things: Your Money and Your Compliance. The COVID-19 fiasco confirms that statement. The vast majority of Americans are easily manipulated into compliance. The small minority who are un-VAXXED are healthy and happy while the VAXXED are experiencing "sudden death syndrome" and chronic health issues for the rest of their life.

The evil one's methods include, but not limited to: wars, lethal injections, mind and mood altering pharmaceuticals, abortion, LGBTQ+ agenda, same sex marriage, gender equality and inclusion, climate change, harmful chemicals in the food chain, GMO foods, artificial foods, AI trans-human robots, open borders, gaslighting, TV and movies, pagans in the pulpit of most Churches, making the Bible hate-speech, and any other means their evil minds can conceive to achieve their desired goals.

Come judgment day these perpetrators of evil will have a rude awakening. Money can buy a lot of things, but it can't buy immortality. Ignorance can be cured with a few simple facts. Stupidity is terminal.

None of these things happen by accident. Their agenda is carefully planned and executed... and they need your money and your compliance to accomplish their evil agenda. As it is written: "An enemy has done this." ~ Matthew 13-38-40

This is nothing new. There have always been evil people who believe they are smarter than God. They vilify anyone who believes in Yahweh God and the Savior Yahshua (aka Jesus the Christ) as superstitious and ignorant "conspiracy theorist."

Jesus never promised His followers  a "mansion in heaven," He promised a Kingdom on earth. One reason people have a hard time believing the Gospel (Good News) is because it seems too good to be true. A man named Jesus/Yahshua claims to be the Son of God, comes down from heaven and is birthed of a virgin, grows up like any other human, takes all the sins of the world on Himself, dies on a cross, rises from the grave, promises to resurrect all people from the dead, and offers them eternal life in the Kingdom of God!? Yeah, right... that's too good to be true.

So, organized religion created a "reasonable" Jesus. He loves you, but will send you to an ever-burning hell if you mess up. He will not resurrect you, He will "rapture" you. You must belong to the "right" church or you will burn in hell forever. You must go through certain rituals, wear your collar backwards, pray, light candles, give 10% of your income to a Church, celebrate His birthday, and hunt Easter eggs to honor Him. Now that makes sense to the carnal mind. We can handle that "truth."

Basically, Churchianity teaches the same lie that Satan told Eve: "You will not surely die, you will go to heaven and be like God." All the "bad" people will spend eternity in an ever burning hell. These two doctrines meet will overwhelming approval by many Churchgoers. Jesus said: Broad is the way that leads to destruction.

Every generation has heard their whole life that Jesus is coming soon. Few ministers preach the Gospel of the Kingdom. According to Churchanity, the "saved" go to heaven and the "unsaved" go to hell at death... so false teachers say there is no need for a resurrection of the dead or the return of Christ to set up His Kingdom on earth. ~ 1 Corinthians 15:16-19 and Revelation 20:6

Both the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 4:29-31) and the New Testament (Acts 14:22) tell us we must go through many tribulations to enter the Kingdom of God. Why is it so difficult to enter the Kingdom? The gospel that Churchanity omits is the birth process. Emphasis on process, ask any woman who has gone through the process of pregnancy and given natural birth, or cesarean birth.

Churchanity has long since stopped heeding the Watchman's warnings. Ignorance is bliss.

Two Vultures

The vulture and the little girl, 1993. Original title: Struggling Girl.

THE SECOND VULTURE

Kevin Carter, a South African photojournalist went to Sudan to cover the civil war going on there. In the 1990's there was this photo he took that was widely circulated of a vulture waiting for a starving little Sudanese girl to die and feast on her corpse. Kevin Carter won the Pulitzer Prize in 1994 for 'the photo that made the world weep'.

However, as Kevin Carter was savoring his feat and being celebrated on major news channels and networks worldwide for such an 'exceptional photographic skill', he lived just for a few months to enjoy his supposed achievement and fame, as he later got depressed and took his own life! He was 33 years old.

Kevin Carter's depression started, when during an interview (a phone-in program), someone called in and asked him what happened to the little girl. He simply replied, "I didn't wait to find out after this shot, as I had a flight to catch." Then the caller said, "I put it to you that there were two vultures on that day, one had a camera."

Thus, his constant thought of that statement later led to depression and he ultimately committed suicide. Kevin Carter, and that little girl, could have still been alive today and even much more famous, if he had just picked that little girl up and taken her to the United Nations Feeding Center, where she was attempting to reach or at least take her to somewhere safe.

Today, regrettably, this is what is happening all around the world. The world celebrates stupidity and inhumane acts, to the detriment of others. Kevin Carter should have taken the girl away from that place, which would cost him nothing, yet he didn't. Here is the inhuman posture, "he had time to take his shot, but he had no time to save the girl's life".

Thus, we must all understand that the purpose of life is to also touch lives. So are you too a Vulture? In whatever we do let humanity come first before what we stand to gain out of the situation. In all we do let's always think of others and how we can be of benefit to humanity, how we can lend a helping hand and wipe away tears. Hence, when we seek knowledge, wealth, fame, skills, or even positions, let's think of how we can use it to benefit the people and society at large.

Today, there is a lot of poverty in the world, so if Almighty God has blessed you, be a blessing to others, extend a helping hand to those in need. Remember, your giving is also a way of appreciating divine blessings, bounties, and favor of God Almighty upon you. Therefore, it is very important that we all should help the poor and needy, the orphans and widows amongst us, so that they can meet their needs. Please don't be a Kevin Carter, be human and think humanity.

We cannot eradicate 100% of poverty. Jesus said: "For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you wish you may do them good."  ~ Mark 14:7

When asked about helping people, Jesus answered: ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren (or little child), you did it to Me.’ ~ Matthew 25:40

Christian Churches do many good works, however, if each Church adopted a fundraiser dedicated to helping people financially, poverty and homelessness could be reduced to almost zero. Instead, Churches spend money on themselves and tell the poor, "that's what government welfare programs are for, go your way and be fed."

Come judgment day, Jesus will say: "Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink." ~ Matthew 25:41-42

After God's Own Heart

King David

The following is an excerpt from the book, The Shepherd King: The Life of David by the late Pat Robertson.

David was a brilliant commander of his nation's armies. He was a brilliant administrator of the affairs of his nation. He became enormously wealthy in his lifetime. He was a gifted poet and musician.

In all of history, there have been few men who have exhibited such prophetic insight and overwhelming devotion to their Creator. But perhaps the greatest accolade of all is the description given to David in the Bible where we are told that David "was a man after God's own heart." Knowing the story of David's infamous acts of adultery and murder, we ask. "How can this be?"

If God forgave David, He surely will forgive everyone who repents and cleans up their act.

A Psalm of David (Hebrew name added)

Psalm 103

Bless Yahweh, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless Yahweh, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Yahweh executes righteousness And justice for all who are oppressed. He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel. Yahweh is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities.

For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

As a father pities his children, So Yahweh pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.

As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, And its place remembers it no more.

But the mercy of Yahweh is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, To such as keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them.

Yahweh has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all.

Bless Yahweh, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word. Bless Yahweh, all you His hosts, You ministers of His, who do His pleasure. Bless Yahweh, all His works, In all places of His dominion.

Bless Yahweh, O my soul!

Prayer

Now it came to pass, as Jesus was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray...”  So He said to them, In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.

And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen

This model prayer tells us Who we should pray to, What we should pray for, and Why we should pray.

WHO

Jesus said pray to our Heavenly Father, ask for His Kingdom to come, His will to be done.

What

Provide us with our daily food, forgive our debts as we forgive our debtors.

Why

Keep us from temptation, and deliver us from the evil one. Then end our prayer with yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen

If you are not saying this prayer the second your feet hit the floor every morning, you are missing a HUGE blessing.

What a wonderful way to start every day.
