Divine Law

by Mike Farris

The "law of Moses" is a name Churchianity likes to call the Law of God. The Levitical priesthood along with animal sacrifice ceased with the ratification of the New Covenant.. not God's Law of Right and Wrong.

Many misguided preachers fail to "rightly divide the Word of Truth" by claiming that Colossians 2:13-14 nailed the Law to the cross. That's not what it says at all else Jesus would be a liar because He plainly tells us in Matthew 5:17 to not even think that He came to destroy the Law. Without the Law, there would be no sin... For sin is the transgression of the Law ~ 1 John 3:4

Colossians 2:13-14

And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the [a]handwriting (certificate of debt with its consequences) of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

The Bible clearly teaches that it is the sin debt that was nailed to the cross, not the Law.

The Divine Law has never been “put away” or “nailed to the cross”. While the Ten Commandments are universally accepted as the highest moral code, there are other God-given laws which define the true standards of health, monetary regulations, taxation, interest, debt, and all other aspects of moral, social and economic conduct of the individual, family, and the nation. We are bound to these laws just as surely as we are bound by the Ten Commandments, or the law of gravity. To the extent that we fail to respect and follow all of God’s laws, personally and nationally, our nation will suffer the curses spelled out in the 28th chapter of the book of Deuteronomy. Read that chapter and compare it with what you see happening in our country, and around the world.

From the internal evidence in the Scriptures, it is shown that the Divine Laws have never been abrogated. Christian believers and their leaders alike fail to understand the various parts of God’s laws. Read: The Levitical Priesthood of Tennessee.

The teaching of God’s laws on all levels is dreadfully lacking today. Pastors, Bible teachers, and every student of political science should study the whole body of the laws of God given in the Scriptures for the benefit of mankind. Although they are frequently mentioned, their application in our daily life is usually ignored and misunderstood. Only the ceremonial rituals carried out by the Levitical priests were “put away”, or “nailed to the cross”.

The DIGEST of the DIVINE LAW by Howard B. Rand was first published in 1943 and points out the fact that we face the rule of law or chaos. It sets forth the justice, equity, and righteousness of the Law of the Lord. When the entire range of Divine jurisprudence is comprehended, and its precepts are obeyed, individual prosperity and national well-being will be the beneficent result.

The 1983 printing in hardcover is still available at the unheard-of low price of $9, plus $4 shipping from Stone Kingdom Ministries. At that price, you can purchase a copy for yourself and your Pastor. Howard Rand was one of the most prolific and knowledgeable authors on Bible subjects during the 20th century. An attorney by training, he was eminently qualified to write on the subject of Divine Law. God blessed Dr. Rand with long life, he was 103 years old at his death. The following is only a partial listing of specific topics covered by the Laws of the Lord.

The Lord is my Shepherd… that’s relationship.
I shall not want.. that’s supply.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures… that’s rest.
He leads me beside still waters… that’s refreshment.
He restores my soul… that’s healing.
He leads me in the paths of righteousness… that’s guidance.
For His name sake… that’s purpose.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death… that’s testing.
I will fear no evil… that’s protection.
For you are with me… that’s faithfulness.
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me… that’s discipline.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies… that’s hope.
You anoint my head with oil… that’s consecration.
My cup is running over… that’s abundance.
Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life… that’s blessing.
And I will dwell in the House of Yahweh forever… that’s security.

As any Bible reader knows, the above is taken from the Psalm 23. The Bible contains the history, promises, and covenants that God made with His servant people, the Israelites (not to be confused with ancient or modern “Jews”. If you do not understand the difference between Israel and Jews, subscribe to Feed My Sheep). Most of the Bible deals with government… how to live in peace with your neighbor, and other nations.

In fulfillment of the promises of God, North America was preserved by God as the final promised land for the re-gathering of the representatives of each of the 13 tribes of Israel. Colonial America had 13 colonies and Canada had 10 provinces and 3 Territories for the double portion blessing of the first born. Reuben was the first born son of Jacob/Israel, but lost his birthright to the sons of Joseph, Ephraim and Manasseh. The history of the sons of Israel is well documented, but little believed because it conflicts with the “traditions of men”. The Old Testament was exclusively for physical Israel, the New Testament is inclusive for spiritual Israel... overcomers with God of any ethnicity.

But God doesn’t lie and He doesn’t forget what He promised to the descendants of Jacob/Israel. One of the promises was to give them His divine Law to live by. Today, the American legal system doesn’t even recognize divine Law. There is only human law which covers everything from buckling your seat belt to murder.

Today, Christians restrict God’s rule to just the spiritual realm. It has not always been this way. Less than a hundred years ago it was commonly believed that God’s Law encompassed everything… spiritual and temporal. Terrible and bloody conflicts like World War I (1914-1918) caused people to question this belief in God’s rule on earth.

Because of death and destruction caused by disease and wars, people began to believe that God really doesn’t care, or He ‘allows’ evil. Their blind Pastors began to ignore scriptures like Isaiah 45:7… “I (God) form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create EVIL: I the LORD do all these things.” And Amos 3:6…”shall there be EVIL in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?”

Christians began to doubt the power and sovereignty of God and began to believe in fables. They believed that God is “good” and Satan is “evil”, and poor old God just can’t control the Devil. No wonder Christianity has fallen on hard times. Without faith that God is the “doer” of it all, it becomes a tug of war between God and Satan, and Satan seems to be winning. The truth is: God IS sovereign and can do anything, anytime, and any way He chooses. Who is puny man to question the superior wisdom of Almighty God?

As for me, I pledge allegiance to the Kingdom of God, and to the King of creation; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in all.

Author's note: What part of ALL is there not to understand?

The Levitical Priesthood of Tennessee

 The Levitical Priesthood of Tennessee

Some years ago at the Feast of Tabernacles in Athens, Tennessee, a local preacher who had heard about our meetings approached me and asked if it was true that I practiced the Law of Moses. I replied that it was true.

Actually, it's the Law of God, but I knew what he meant. Moses was only a judge of the law. As it is written: "When the people have a legal dispute, they come to me (Moses), and I judge between one and another; and I make known the statutes of God and His laws." ~ Exodus 18:16

He then asked if I practiced the sacrificial laws. Perceiving that he meant the animal sacrifices associated with the Old Testament rituals, I ask the preacherman if he practiced the Levitical Priesthood in Tennessee. He emphatically denied that he did any such thing, and proceeded to preach me a fire-and-brimstone sermon about Christ crucified, and how Jesus did away with the Law of Moses.

Seeing that the man was a Christian in distress over doctrine, I apologized for my outrageous suggestion the he might be a practitioner of the sacrificial system of the State of Tennessee, explaining that I had heard that the people of Tennessee practiced the Levitical Priesthood, with sacrifices and heave offerings under another name, calling it “The Judicial System”.

As he stared at me as if I had just landed in a spaceship from Mars, I asked him if Tennessee had any State Highway Patrol officers. He admitted that they did. I then asked if they had Police, Lawyers, Judges, Courts, Courthouses, Court Rooms with Bars and Benches, and Fines for Criminal activities.

Once again he admitted that the County where he lived, and the rest of Tennessee, did have all these things and that they do make up the Judicial System. I told him that since I was from out of State and had only heard that the people of Tennessee were a religious lot, I wanted to be sure that they had the same system that I had back home. Once more he gave me that strange look, and asked how in the world is the Judicial System religious? So I related the following story to him.

Suppose you drive down the road at 100 mph and the policeman, ever vigilant and looking for crimes, sees you and roars off in hot pursuit. When he catches up to you he asks for your driver's license, and notes that it does not give you permission to drive 100 mph. He also smells alcohol and sees an open container of liquor in your car. You fail a breathalyzer test.

He then arrests you and takes you to the nearest jail from where you are brought before the Judge who is sitting on the Bench behind the Bar in the Courtroom which is in the Courthouse. You are stood beside your Lawyer who is before the Bench and in front of the Bar to enter a plea of guilty, which makes you a Criminal. The Judge gives you a Fine to pay, and assesses Court Costs. If you do not like this verdict, you can appeal to a Higher Court. This is called the Judicial System, or Civil Service.

In Old Testament times this system was called the Levitical Priesthood, and worked in the same way that our Judicial System does. The Policeman of today is the High Priest’s servant who is constantly looking for sin (crime). Sin is the transgression of the Law (1John 3:4). When the High Priest’s servant uncovers your Sin, he arrests you and puts you in the Jail in the Courthouse.

Old Courthouses are designed like a Temple and always sat in the town square (in many small towns this arrangement is still the custom), where the High Priest (Judge) conducts the Temple sacrifices in the Holy Place called the Courtroom today. You, of course, will recognize the High Priest by his long black robe, and you always rise in respect whenever he enters or leaves the Courtroom. The High Priest sits behind the Altar (Bench) which is behind the Veil to the Holy Place (Bar). To pass this Veil, and to approach the High Priest requires an Intercessor (Lawyer) who will help you in your prayer (Plea) to the High Priest about your Sin (Crime).

When you plead that you are guilty of this Sin, you become a Sinner (Criminal). The High Priest then imposes a sacrifice of one ram of the first year, which is called a Sin Offering (Fine). He also imposes a Heave Offering (Court Costs) of two turtle doves. If you think you got a raw deal, you can go to Moses through the Aaronic Priesthood in the Holy of Holies (appealing to a Higher Court). This system of law and sacrifice is called the Levitical Priesthood, better known today as the Civil Service, or the Judicial System.

Tennessee is a Sovereign. A Sovereign makes Law. A Lawmaker is god. To violate this Law is Sin. Sin requires a sacrifice as a matter of Law, whether it’s Civil Law or Criminal Law. People who practice the religion of the United States make sacrifices to their god, either voluntarily or involuntarily. As it is written: "Whosoever commits sin (crime) transgresses also the law: for sin (crime) is the transgression of the law." 1 John 3:4. The difference is: Man's law is "legal and illegal" while God's Law is Right and Wrong.

To summarize:

* The Policeman is the High Priest’s servant
* Crime is Sin
* Going to Jail is the Ward of the Temple
* The Courthouse is the Temple
* The Courtroom is the Holy Place
* The Judge is the High Priest
* The Bench is the Altar
* The Bar is the Veil
* The Lawyer is the Intercessor
* The Plea is the Prayer
* Crime is being guilty of the Sin
* A Criminal is a Sinner
* The Fine is the Sin Offering
* The Court Costs are the Heave Offerings
* The Higher Court is the Holy of Holies
* The Judicial System is patterned after the Levitical Priesthood

So, I closed by chiding this Christian preacher a little, reminding him that Christians are the “People of the Book”, and that we all practice the sacrificial system of the Levitical Priesthood every time we go into a Courtroom. I also pointed out that although the Judicial System is patterned after the Levitical Priesthood, it is the dead letter of the Law. Christians are under the Melchizedek Order, the living spirit of the Law. Hebrews 4:14-16 and 5:1-10. Jesus took away the penalty of the Law, not the Law itself.

With the ratification of the New Testament in 30 A.D. and the destruction of the Temple in 70 A.D., the old Levitical priesthood with animal sacrifices was destroyed, never to return. God is our Sovereign and Law giver. Jesus is our High Priest and Intercessor. (1 John 2:1-6).

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. ~ Ecclesiastes 12:13

A servant obeys his master because he has to... a son obeys his Father because he wants to. God is bringing many sons (and daughters as well) to glory. ~ Hebrews 2:10

The purpose of this post is to get people to think about what they believe and why they believe it, not debate who's right or wrong. To learn the revealed truth of God we must know and understand the true meaning of the words God inspired to be written. Use Strong's Concordance to check the original word before it was translated. Do your own research, make up your own mind, rely on the Holy Spirit to guide you. Just because we believe something does not make it true. God looks on our heart, not our brain.
