What Is The Bible About?

The Holy Scriptures, called the Bible, is not a random collection of Jewish fables or moral tales. The Bible is the grand story of Yahweh God reconciling all creation to Himself through the redemptive work of His Son, Yahshua/Jesus. Yahweh chose a people to be His ambassadors on earth for the Kingdom of God.

The Bible is about one man's family starting with Adam and ending with Yahshua/Jesus. The people from Adam to Christ are related, all descendants of Adam (a son of Yahweh God ~ Luke 3:38). Yahweh made an unconditional promise to a man named Abraham. If you belong to Christ, you are spiritually the seed (offspring) of Abraham and an heir according to God's promise, as stated in Galatians 3:29.

Key Biblical Meanings
  • The Singular Seed (Christ): The apostle Paul clarifies in Galatians 3:16 that the ultimate, primary "Seed" promised to Abraham is Jesus Christ.
  • Spiritual vs. Physical Lineage: Being Abraham's seed is not determined by physical bloodline, ethnicity, or outward religious rituals like circumcision, but by a living faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Inclusivity of Believers: Through faith, both Jew and Gentile, slave and free, male and female are united "in Christ" and share equally in the family and promises of Abraham.
  • The Inheritance: As heirs according to the promise, believers inherit spiritual blessings under the New Covenant—including justification by faith, righteousness, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and eternal life—rather than just earthly blessings.
  • Consensus on Covenant Identity: Bible scholars and Christian communities generally agree that this passage redefines the Abrahamic family around faith in the Promised Messiah, Yahshua/Jesus Christ.
Combined, the phrases "kingdom of God" and "kingdom of heaven" appear exactly 100 times in the New Testament of most standard translations.
The individual breakdown of how often each phrase occurs is as follows:
  • "Kingdom of God": Appears 68 times across 10 different New Testament books.
  • "Kingdom of heaven": Appears 32 times and is found exclusively in the Gospel of Matthew. (Note: Depending on the specific Bible translation, such as the King James Version, you may occasionally see this count listed as 33 times).
Usage and Context
The two phrases are used interchangeably to represent the same concept. The distinct phrasing is largely due to the audience of the writers. Matthew wrote primarily for a Jewish audience and likely used "kingdom of heaven" to respect the Jewish custom of avoiding direct use of the name Yahweh. On the other hand, writers like Mark and Luke wrote for Gentile audiences and used "kingdom of God" for clarity.
A clear example of this interchangeable use can be found in Matthew 19:23–24, where Jesus switches between the two phrases within two back-to-back sentences while speaking to his disciples.
How do disciples of Yahshua/Jesus gain entrance into the Kingdom of God? Only born again family members can enter the Kingdom.

The purpose of this post is to get people to think about what they believe and why they believe it, not debate who's right or wrong. To learn the revealed truth of God we must know and understand the true meaning of the words God inspired to be written. Use Strong's Concordance to check the original word before it was translated. Do your own research, make up your own mind, rely on the Holy Spirit to guide you. God always gives us a choice. We can choose to believe the Truth of the Bible, or we can choose the lies of the Adversary.
